Description

Collection of five films starring Luca Zingaretti. In 'Cefalonia' (2005), when over 500 officers and 11,000 Italian soldiers deployed between Kefalonia and Corfu receive the news that their country has sought an armistice, their thoughts turn to home and a reunion with their families.

But their initial elation soon turns to gloom, however, when they learn that their former German allies have issued them with an ultimatum to surrender or fight.

In 'Perlasca: The Courage of a Just Man' (2002), though Giorgio Perlasca (Zingaretti) was initially a supporter of Italian fascism and fought for Mussolini in East Africa during the Italo-Abyssinian War, he became increasingly disenchanted with the doctrine as it merged with Hitler's anti-Semitic vision.

In 1944, while based in Budapest for the purposes of business, Perlasca was confronted directly with the horror of the Holocaust and, unlike so many others, didn't turn a blind eye but did whatever he could to save lives. 'By the Light of Day' (2005) follows the story of Don Giuseppe Puglisi (Zingaretti), a priest from Palermo, who fights against the local Mafia-controlled environment to save young children and teenagers from becoming involved in a life of crime.

However, his plans to interfere with the way the Mafia conduct their business means he becomes a threat to those in power. 'Paolo Borsellino: The 57 Days' (2012) traces the 57 days after the assassination of his friend and fellow anti-Mafia judge Giovanni Falcone when Paolo Borsellino (Zingaretti) must come to terms with his own inescapable destiny.

Lastly, in 'Calling Inspector Marotta' (2000), Inspector Giovanni Marotta (Zingaretti) is despatched to Rome in 1925 following a tip-off about a major robbery in the pipeline.

Marotta goes undercover and quickly gains access to the group planning the heist and even develops a romantic relationship with female gang member Lulu (Meret Becker).

Astonishingly, the target of the robbery is St Peter's Treasure.

Can Marotta foil the plot before priceless relics are lost?
