Description
Sergei Bondarchuk directs this Russian adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's epic novel.
The film, in four parts, follows the lives of the young Countess Natasha Rostova (Lyudmila Savelyeva) and her unhappily married cousin Count Pierre Bezukhov (Bondarchuk) as they embark on a passionate affair.
Intertwined with their love story is the drama of the Great Patriotic War of 1812 as Napoleon (Vladislav Strzhelchik)'s army prepares to invade Russia.
