Description

Classic British comedy in which a comedian from the provinces heads to London to make his name only to find himself stuck working as an understudy.

When Jerry Sandford (Sid Field) relocates to London he expects to take the starring role in a major stage production.

The reality of big city life kicks in when he finds himself trapped in the role of understudy and ignored by almost everyone.

Fortunately for him, his daughter Peggy (Petula Clark) is wily and resourceful and soon comes up with a plan to get her father his big break...
