Romanian drama written, produced and directed by Cristian Mungiu.
In a small town on the outskirts of Cluj, surgeon Romeo Aldea (Adrian Titieni) lives with his wife Magda (Lia Bugnar) and 18-year-old daughter Eliza (Maria-Victoria Dragus).
Having been raised her whole life to get to university and out of her hometown, Eliza stands on the cusp of being accepted to study psychology at an English university if she can first pass her final entrance exam.
However, the day before her exam she is the victim of a vicious and random sexual assault that leaves her injured and severely shaken.
Not wanting the incident to ruin her entire future, Romeo decides to pull some strings to ensure his daughter's paper is marked favourably, compromising the very principles he has always tried to instil in Eliza.
