Description

The first full-length live action feature from the Brothers Quay, usually famed for their surreal animated shorts.

A young, modest man (Mark Rylance) enrols in the strange, dilapidated Institute Benjamenta, a boarding school for the training of servants.

He becomes fascinated by the secret world of the owners of the institute and becomes obsessed with Lisa Benjamenta (Alice Krige).

But then, slowly, the school starts to disintegrate.
