This Element argues for a broad and inclusive understanding of the 'theory and philosophy of history', a goal that has proven elusive.
Different intellectual traditions have competing, often incompatible definitions of what could or should count as proper 'theory/philosophy of history'.
By expanding on the traditional versions of the 'history of the theory and philosophy of history' and including contexts from the Global South, particularly Latin America, the author hopes to offer a broader, more inclusive perspective on the theoretical reflections about history.
