A live recording of Carl Heinrich Graun's opera that transposes the life and times of the last Aztec ruler with that of the 18th century Prussian court.

Staged at the Markgräfliche Opernhaus, Bayreuth, Herbert Wernicke's production features performances by, among others, Alexandra Papadjiakou, Sophie Boulin and Gudrun Sieber.

The orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin is conducted by Hans Hildorf.
