Description

Romance drama directed by David Leveaux and starring Jai Courtney, Christopher Plummer and Lily James.

Following his abdication after Germany's defeat in the First World War, former German emperor Wilhelm II (Plummer) lives in exile at a remote estate in the Netherlands.

In 1940, as Nazi Germany goes on the offensive in the Second World War, Captain Brandt (Courtney) is assigned to assess the security situation at Wilhelm's residence.

There he meets and is immediately drawn into a relationship with Mieke (James) while suspicions grow that there is a spy in their midst.
