In 1743 George II led the British army to its first major conflict in over twenty years and became the last British monarch to personally lead troops into battle at the Battle of Dettingen.

Changes to the uniforms are discussed in detail and the book is divided into four parts.

Part One highlights the common items of the cavalry.

Part Two considers the uniforms of the officers' and other ranks of the Household Cavalry, the Royal Horse Guards, the Horse and Dragoon Guards and the regiments of Dragoons and light dragoons.
