Description

Collection of three war films. Written by and starring Paul Gross, 'Passchendaele' (2008) follows the fortunes of wounded sergeant Michael Dunne (Gross) as he recovers at a hospital in Canada.

After striking up a relationship with nurse Sarah Mann (Caroline Dhavernas), Dunne decides to return to active duty in France in order to shepherd Sarah's younger brother David (Joe Dinicol) through the war.

As the three arrive in France to take up their positions, the third battle of Ypres, otherwise known as Passchendaele, is about to begin. 'Grey Wolf - The Escape of Adolf Hitler' (2012) is a dramatisation of the novel by Simon Dunstan and Gerrard Williams, based on supposed real events.

On 30th April 1945 the world was told that Adolf Hitler (Dante Venesio) was dead... but was he? Eye witnesses and testimonials recorded over the years suggest that Hitler actually escaped his fate and fled to Argentina to start a new life.

A wife, two children and a home in the country; could Hitler really have had a normal life?

Chinese director Lu Chuan directs the historical drama 'City of Life and Death' (2009) based on the invasion of Nanking - the then-capital of the Republic of China - by the Japanese army in 1936, an event that has since been dubbed the Nanking Massacre.

Over a period of several weeks, tens of thousands of Chinese soldiers and civilians were brutally tortured, raped and killed by soldiers of the Imperial Japanese army.

The story follows the experiences of several characters swept up in the conflict, both historical and fictional, including a Chinese soldier (Ye Liu), a schoolteacher (Yuanyuan Gao), a Japanese soldier (Hideo Nakaizumi) and a Nazi businessman John Rabe (John Paisley).
