Documentary looking at the exchange of ideas and art between east and west following Vasco de Gama's arrival in India, in 1492, until 1800.
Exploring both the western fascination for the exotic materials of the east, and the eastern interest in European technologies, the documentary considers the artistic, religious and diplomatic dimensions of this cross-pollenation in cultures.
Also features discussions between Victoria and Albert Museum curators Amin Jaffer and Anna Jackson, as well as writer William Dalrymple.
