On crutches, she entertained the troops, giving ninety-five shows throughout Europe.

Her courageous return was the focus of the 1952 movie With a Song in My Heart.

Susan Hayward played Froman, but for scenes that required singing performances, recordings of Froman herself were used, and the movie soundtrack became a best-selling record album.

Froman's popularity led to her own television show from 1952 to 1955.

In 1961, Froman retired from singing and returned to Columbia, Missouri, where she was active in volunteer work and lived out her remaining years.
