Description

The main objective of the second edition of Clinical Methods in Obstetrics & Gynecology is to hone the clinical skills of students and clinicians in their day-to-day practice and stimulate their minds to think of differential diagnosis and systematically reach a final diagnosis. The sections on obstetrics and gynecology have individual chapters dedicated to various complaints or conditions commonly presented in the outpatient department.

Each chapter begins with an introduction, a list of differential diagnoses followed by a discussion on history taking, examination of the patient and investigations as guided by the differential diagnoses.

At the end of each chapter, there is additional information provided about the treatment and a list of latest guidelines from various societies to refer to.

Some new chapters have been incorporated in the obstetric section, including chapters on pregnancy (including multiple pregnancy), Rh-negative pregnancy, decreased fetal movement, positive aneuploidy tests, and suspected fetal growth restriction.

In the general section, new topics include cardiotocography, endoscopic equipment and instruments, minor procedures in the labour room and initiatives to improve maternal and neonatal health. Directs the clinician on the approach to various clinical situations and problems in obstetrics and gynecology. Unique in the way that it describes the differential diagnosis of each condition. Focuses the points to be elicited on history and examination. Lists the various investigations for each condition with their interpretation.

Outlines the management of various conditions for ready reference.

Well-illustrated with pictures and flowcharts.
