Robert Oppenheimer. During WWII he was the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory in New Mexico, which was tasked with designing and building atomic bombs as part of the Manhattan Project.

After the war, he campaigned for strict controls on nuclear power, seeking to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons and a nuclear arms race between the USA and the Soviet Union.
