Description
If you've never heard of Dic Penderyn, where on earth have you been?
In June 1831 Merthyr was the biggest town in Wales, where almost everyone worked in the coal and iron industries; but the people were angry about their low pay, expensive food and terrible working conditions.
Now, when Merthyr people get angry, they can get 'tampin mad' (that's really, really angry) so, with miffed miners armed with their fists and a red flag on one side and the mega-rich coal owners, the ironmasters and the army on the other, the scene was set for the famous Merthyr Rising.
It's a very Tidy Tale and, the amazing thing is, it's all true ...well most of it anyway.
