The film explores the history of the modular synthesiser, looking at manufacturers such as Moog Music and Buchla, and the revival in recent years which has seen the instrument become a vital tool for musicians.

The footage includes interviews with various musicians and producers including Morton Subotnick, Bernie Krause, Gary Numan, Trent Reznor, Carl Craig and James Holden.
