The coenosus group, containing 34 species, is the most speciose clade of Histerini in the Americas.
The author provides the first comprehensive revision of these species, including keys for identification, complete distributional data, illustrations of diagnostic characters, and a detailed phylogenetic analysis.
He uses the phylogeny to examine the evolution of several biological characteristics, with particular emphasis on myrmecophily.
